OverviewJob Skills / RequirementsSite Description:The Emergency Entrance at University Hospital is a critical access point operating 24/7. This position focuses on strict access control, visitor screening, and monitoring of high-traffic areas to maintain a safe and controlled environment. Officers must demonstrate strong communication skills, situational awareness, and the ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion.Position: Part Time Access Control GuardSite: London Health Sciences CentreHours: Saturday and Sunday (20:00 - 05:30hrs)Payrate: $18.54/hrOvertime Method: Averaging Agreement (AA) - calculating after 88 hours bi-weeklyPosting Date: April 13th, 2026Internal Closing Date: April 20th, 2026External Closing Date: May 15th, 2026The day-to-day work activities include, but are not limited to:

Control entry and access to the hospital
Ensuring compliance with the standards, rules, and regulations at the hospital
Able to use tact and diplomacy in dealings across a range of settings and situations
Ability to maintain and enforce access control procedures
Solid understanding of emergency and standard operating procedures
Deal with trespassers and unauthorized persons found on the property, in a fair and safe manner, by enforcing the Trespass to Property Act
De-escalate emergency/crisis situations

Requirements:

Must possess Ontario Security Guard License
First Aid & CPR - Level C (WSIB approved)
Post-Secondary education in law enforcement from a recognized institution or equivalent experience is preferred
Physical Demands include excessive walking and standing
Utilize radio and computer applications for communicating site activities
Watch for and report irregularities by completing incident reports, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations; contact emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel, as required.
Superior written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated punctuality and reliability, tact, and diplomacy.
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Authorized to legally work in Canada
