- Assist in preparing detailed quantity take-offs for mechanical, structural, and electrical scopes.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and vendor data to identify scope requirements and cost drivers.
- Support the development of conceptual, budgetary, and detailed estimates (Class 1–5).
- Collect and analyze supplier and subcontractor quotations for equipment, materials, and services.
- Support maintenance of internal cost databases, unit rates, and benchmarking tools.
- Assist in preparing cost summaries, estimate breakdown structures, and pricing sheets.
- Assist with the assembly of proposals, bid documents, and technical submissions.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of bid documentation, including assumptions, clarifications, and exclusions.
- Support pre-bid meetings, site visits, and preparation of RFIs as required.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, Project Controls, and Construction teams to ensure alignment between estimating assumptions and execution planning.
- Track estimate revisions, version control, and change management.
- Provide estimating support during project handover and early execution phases.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in estimating, project engineering, or construction; mining or materials handling experience is an asset.
- Familiarity with bulk material handling systems such as conveyors, stackers, reclaimers, crushers, and screening plants is preferred.
- Understanding of unit costs, labor productivity, equipment rates, and subcontractor pricing.
- Basic knowledge of Lump Sum and Cost Reimbursable contract structures.
- Ability to read and interpret civil, structural, and mechanical drawings, including P&IDs.
- Basic understanding of construction methods and sequencing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with estimating software is an asset.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with construction site environments and safety requirements.
- Willingness and ability to travel to client construction sites (approximately 20% annually).
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
