If you are looking to transform the post-secondary landscape with polytechnic education, research, and partnerships, Northwestern Polytechnic is your employer of choice.The RoleThe Business Systems Programmer is primarily responsible for development of NWP Business Software applications/customizations and the analysis of business processes including, but not limited to, Financial Services, Human Resources, and Student Services (PowerCampus). The Business Systems Programmer will be responsible for data extraction, report writing, and integration between in-house and third-party NWP systems. The Business Systems Programmer is an integral part of any new business system implementation at Northwestern Polytechnic.The areas of responsibility included within this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Analysis and improvement of business processes;
  • Implementation of new systems to improve/replace existing processes;
  • Research/implementation of features within existing systems, with the intent to improve/automate processes;
  • Development of customizations/integrations to business systems to improve/automate processes;
  • Development of new business system applications (for specific processes); and
  • Research/implementation of web-based applications to improve/automate processes.
  • Research/implementation of mobile applications to improve/automate processes.
  • Research/implementation of cloud-based applications to improve/automate processes.
  • This position is also expected to take on special projects, as they relate to business systems, databases, software packages, or custom programming.
  • Training and assisting users with the creation/maintenance of reports
  • Maintaining an advanced knowledge of T-SQL, stored procedures, and relational database concepts.
  • Responsible for extracting data from system databases and writing reports as per user requirements.
  • Support of existing business systems at NWP by maintaining a working knowledge of all processes and technologies within the business systems environment.
  • Maintain a position operation's manual.
  • Document proper operation of business systems to mitigate enterprise risk.
  • Assess operational compliance with documentation for business systems.
Job RequirementsA two-year diploma in a related field and 2 years directly related experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience is required. The successful candidate will have the other following qualifications:
  • Any related development or database certifications would be an asset and experience with the following:
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2022
  • Microsoft Visual Studio 2019 / 2022
  • Unit 4 Business World (Agresso)/Workday - Financials, Logistics, Human Resource, and Payroll
  • Ellucian PowerCampus
  • Matador
  • C# / T-SQL / ASP.NET / MVC
  • Golang, PHP, Python, JavaScript, HTML
  • Knowledge and experience with report writing.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Ability to build strong relationships across the organization.
  • A high level of integrity, confidentiality, professionalism and accountability.
