Otter Co-op is now hiring for a Part-Time Fresh N good Associate to assist with our Fresh N Good Food Program based out of our Parallel Food Store located in Abbotsford, BC.Who we are:Otter Co-op is a diverse and growing organization, serving the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley and BC Interior since 1922. We operate three food and pharmacy stores (including one with a fashion and hardware department), thirty Angry Otter liquor stores, one feed mill, two bulk petroleum facilities, the Highwayman Pub in Abbotsford, and multiple gas station/convenience stores.   • Assist with the preparation of a wide variety of products for the Gas Bar Food Program, including but not limited to sandwiches, baked goods, popcorn, confectionary, flavored peanuts etc.
  • Delivery of products to our Gar Bars and Pubs throughout the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley
  • Providing responsive, exceptional service to Guests at the Deli and treat counters by answering questions, making recommendations, providing samples, and responding to requests
  • Recommending, slicing, weighing, packaging, and pricing meats and cheeses
  • Preparing special orders and party trays
  • Updating displays, cases, and other customer-facing areas to ensure new items and promotions are showcased
  • Ensuring that work areas are ready to service customers by cleaning surfaces, equipment, and floors, removing trash, and confirming that tools are in working order
  • Following all food safety and sanitation procedures established by the company and other regulatory agencies
  • Cooperating with others to ensure Guest satisfaction
  • Perform opening and closing procedures
  • Contribute to the Team in living the Corporate Values of Integrity, Community and Excellence

  • Must have Class 5 drivers license with a clean driving record
  • 1-2 years of Deli, Kitchen and/or Food Prep experience an asset
  • Must be comfortable with driving a delivery van throughout the Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley
  • Ability to lift heavy items, ranging from 25 to 50 lbs., and operate equipment, such as meat and cheese slicers, scales, cash registers, etc.
  • Excellent guest service, communication, and math skills
  • Ability to comprehend and follow all company procedures and regulations regarding food handling and sanitation
  • A courteous and efficient approach to handling Guest requests, questions, and complaints
  • Must be committed to a SAFE working environment
  • The ideal candidate will have open availability to work a variety of shifts, 7 days a week from 4:00am-9:00pm. Weekend availability is a must.
  • This position is based at the Parallel Food Store, though it may require on occasion to travel and work at other locations as business needs require
