- Conducting legal research and analyzing case law to develop effective strategies for resolving construction disputes
- Drafting legal briefs, pleadings, and other documentation related to litigation
- Representing clients in court and negotiating settlements with opposing parties
- Managing a caseload of construction-related litigation matters
- Collaborating with teams of attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to analyze evidence and prepare for trial
- Maintaining accurate and complete case files and legal databases
- Participating in alternative dispute resolution processes, such as arbitration or mediation, to resolve construction disputes outside of the courtroom
- Advising clients on legal issues related to construction projects, such as zoning and land use regulations, building codes, and insurance coverage.
- Mediating and defending builder's liens and debt collections.
- Must have a Juris Doctor (JD) degree or an LLB from an accredited law school.
- License to practice law in British Columbia and be in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia.
- Strong analytical, research, and writing skills, as well as excellent communication and negotiation skills, are essential for success in this role.
