- Support and preparation of engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports, and designs for various industrial projects.
- Working with Engineers, Designers, and CADD Technicians to develop drawings in accordance with national design standards, safety codes and project specifications and requirements.
- Supporting and developing design deliverables including single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, electrical site plans, electrical schematics specifications.
- Performing site visits, as required, during the design, construction, and as-built phases of projects.
- Travel: Some travel to job sites or other HDR offices could be required. This would be communicated in advance to give adequate coordination time with project work and personal life.
- A Minimum of 1 year of electrical design experience (including co-op or internships).
- Prior Experience with low voltage power distribution design including unit substations, sizing circuit breakers, MCC’s, motor starters, cables and backup power generators.
- Experience conducting site visits and inspections.
- Valid driver’s license for Canada.
- Strong written and confident verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated and ability to take initiative.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
- Previous internship beneficial
- Strong computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power
- Desire to pursue growth opportunities and obtain registration
