Why is this role important?The Team Lead, Marketing Operations leads CIHI's marketing technology enablement and digital campaign operations. This role is responsible for optimizing the use of marketing automation and CRM platforms, and governing marketing activities within those platforms to enable compliant and effective campaign execution, and ensuring marketing systems align with corporate priorities. Working closely with Corporate Marketing, Digital Analytics, and enterprise system partners, the Team Lead translates strategic marketing objectives into operational solutions, ensuring platform readiness, data integrity, and process excellence.What you'll do
  • Supervise, coach, and develop marketing staff, assigning work and monitoring performance to ensure high-quality delivery and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Lead and oversee the optimization of marketing use of CRM and marketing automation platforms to support effective, compliant digital engagement.
  • Translate corporate marketing strategies into operational execution plans, ensuring platform readiness and coordinated campaign delivery across email and digital channels (e.g., marketing automation, paid media, and advertising platforms). Collaborate with internal system partners (Client System Solutions Team) to define marketing technology requirements, prioritize enhancements, and support roadmap planning.
  • Ensure marketing activities comply with applicable legislation and internal governance standards (e.g., CASL, privacy, consent management).
  • Oversee segmentation frameworks, audience lifecycle management, and marketing data integrity within marketing systems.
  • Develop and monitor marketing operations work plans, identify operational risks, and recommend process and system solutions improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Contribute to operational and strategic planning within the marketing function and provide regular updates to the Manager on priorities, risks, and capacity considerations.
What you'll bring to the table
  • Undergraduate degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in digital marketing and marketing operations, with a strong focus on marketing automation and CRM systems. Experience with Marketo is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience working within shared system governance models where platforms are owned by a separate solutions or IT team.
  • Experience defining business requirements and influencing technical roadmaps.
  • Experience collaborating with IT, Legal, Privacy, and Information Security teams on system enhancements and compliance.
  • Experience operationalizing digital marketing campaigns across multiple channels.
  • Experience working with digital advertising platforms (e.g., Google, LinkedIn, programmatic) to support campaign setup; experience with trafficking and optimization is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of marketing automation architecture and CRM integration to translate strategic marketing objectives into structured system requirements.
  • Working knowledge of consent management, CASL, and privacy legislation as it relates to digital marketing and marketing platforms.
  • Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
  • Proven project management and backlog prioritization capabilities.
  • Ability to navigate organizational governance structures while maintaining campaign momentum.
  • Strong problem-solving and systems-thinking mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of CIHI products and healthcare sector is an asset.
  • Leads and develops staff through clear direction, coaching, and accountability.
  • Builds effective cross-functional partnerships to advance shared objectives.
  • Demonstrates resilience and sound judgment in navigating governance complexity.
  • Balances innovation with risk management and compliance discipline.
  • Encourages continuous improvement and operational rigor.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Must comply with all CIHI workplace policies, including privacy and confidentiality.
  • Fluency in English is required, bilingualism in both official languages is an asset.
