
Engineer II

- Provide welding support to a wide variety of projects by applying knowledge of welding processes and industry welding codes to develop specific welding procedures which are compliant with the requirements of the applicable code
- Develop welding procedure specifications (WPS) as required
- Provide technical support to both internal and external groups for repair designs and procedures for structures, tanks, pressure equipment and other components
- Performing engineering review of equipment integrity inspections and provide recommendations on suitability for service
- Mentoring less experienced staff and providing technical support to the engineering team
- Any additional area of expertise across failure analysis, corrosion, polymers, non-destructive testing, fitness for service assessment would be an asset.
- Diligent management through all phases of a project lifecycle: initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout.
- Proactively engaging with clients to build rapport, enhance relationships, and navigate difficult conversations.
- Continually striving for process improvements including creating comprehensive reports and reports aligned to client needs, and identifying solutions to issues and developing recommendations for implementation
- A university degree in Engineering (Materials, Metallurgy, Welding, or equivalent)
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (or immediately eligible) with the Engineers & Geoscientists of BC
- A minimum of 10 years of directly related work experience.
- Demonstrated experience of successful project management and implementation of project management tools for tracking and communicating budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines, maintaining a high-quality deliverables and clear and timely communication.
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards including CWB, ASME, CSA, API and others
- Registration as a CWB Welding Engineer would be an asset
- Deep understanding of the operations and lifecycle extension of heavy equipment common to oil & gas, pulp & paper, mining industries would be an asset.
- Familiarity with WorkSafe BC, Technical Safety BC, and EGBC regulations.
- Familiarity with ISO Quality, Heath, Safety, and Environmental programs, policies and procedures.
- Proficiency in MS Office programs and driver license, Class 5 (clean record) required.
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards Ability to resolve issues and problems that are not clearly defined.
- Ability to manage large amounts of data effectively.
- Ability to translate knowledge into practical solutions.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to effectively respond to different levels of understanding, and produce professional reports.
- Proficiency in MS Office programs and driver license, Class 5 (clean record) required.
