- Responsible for the financial performance of a designated region. Management of financial performance to ensure business plans targets are being met.
- Reports issues to Operations Manager regarding financial performance, workload status, potential legal issues, and potential opportunities.
- Resolves project-level legal disputes and escalates issues to Operations Manager.
- Puts in place a management team with clearly defined responsibilities covering all aspects of the operation.
- Prepares staff development and succession plans for key positions in the department.
- Approves all expenditures and proposal pricing within limits of authority.
- Maintains personal contact with major clients and unions.
- Ensures that all activity in the designated regions is consistent with corporate and divisional strategic plans, business plans, policies, and procedures.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
- Supervises Superintendents and all the crews in the designated region.
- Able to perform in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in the Utility Contracting Industry.
- Proven leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to resolve project disputes with minimal assistance.
- Ability to Inspire and foster an environment of cooperation between different departments and co-workers.
- Availability to travel between all Utilities yards.
- Sound computer skills - MS Excel / Lotus, MS Word, and MS Project.
- Self-motivated with good organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, accurately and under pressure.
- Must hold a valid Ontario Class G driver's license
