Join our team and be on the way to a rewarding and fulfilling career!As a Senior Accountant and member of our Finance and Accounting team, you will be responsible for many of the day to day accounting operations as well as participating in the financial close and reporting process. This is a hands-on role that will include day to day processing as well as working cross functionally with other departments to provide accurate and insightful financial reporting and analysis. The successful candidate will be talented and self-motivated, a quick learner and versatile that is comfortable working in a fast paced and evolving environment. They will have excellent problem solving skills as well as strong written and verbal communication skills. This position requires someone who can work within a team, both within the finance group and with employees at all levels of the organization.Primary Responsibilities:
  • Take ownership of assigned month-end accounting and reporting tasks, including preparation of various journal entries, preparation of continuity schedules, review and post accruals as needed.
  • Proficient in payroll processing, including comprehension of payroll processing platforms like ADP, reporting, posting journals, reconciliations, accruals.
  • Calculate, review, post and reporting on employee’s Sales Incentive Plans (commissions)
  • Organize data and improve processes to increase business efficiencies
  • Experience with Canadian and US sales tax preparation, analysis and filings and the ability to assist with sales tax audits as needed.
  • Participate in the interim and year-end audits and with guidance and direction from Controller work with auditors in respect to providing required documents and schedules.
  • Intercompany transactions management and reconciliation.
  • Prepare accurate, timely and detailed balance sheet reconciliations to ensure no material financial statement misstatements. Knowledge and experience using tools such as Blackline (or similar application) for reconciliations is an asset.
  • Perform monthly account analysis and compare forecast to actual; support compilation of data for forecasting purposes.
  • Comprehension and practical experience in IFRS accounting, specifically IFRS 16 and Lease Accounting
  • Financial statement (balance sheet and income statement) preparation, analytics and review; monthly, quarterly, annually.
  • Provide business intelligence, insight and reporting to leadership
  • Excellent communication skills for interactions via email, telephone, and in-person meetings.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA designation (CA) with firm experience 3-5 years of full cycle accounting experience including journal entries, period end close and reconciliation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills for interactions via email, telephone, and in-person meetings.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills and experience in database management/Power BI is an asset.
  • Collaborative, approachable, team player who works well with all levels of the organization.
  • High attention to detail, critical thinking, ability to meet timeliness and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to gather data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and propose solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience with ERP systems and business intelligence software; experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, BPC, Adaptive, Netsuite’s OpenAir would an asset
