- Own day-to-day administration and operational health of Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases running on Amazon RDS, including monitoring, performance tuning, backup and restore validation, patching coordination, and incident response.
- Administer and support Snowflake environments, including performance monitoring, workload management, role and access control, data usage governance, and cost awareness.
- Serve on the internal database team for cloud platforms, acting as technical point of contact for managed service providers, professional services, and internal application teams.
- Plan and execute database lifecycle activities such as minor and major version upgrades, parameter group changes, storage scaling, and capacity planning for RDS and Snowflake platforms.
- Establish and maintain operational standards, documentation, and runbooks; proactively identify risks, optimization opportunities, and improvements to database reliability, security, and cost efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5–8 years of experience in a Database Administrator or Database Engineer role supporting production environments.
- Hands-on experience administering Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL, with at least part of that experience in cloud or managed database platforms.
- Experience supporting Amazon RDS for SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL.
- Hands-on experience administering Snowflake, including performance monitoring and access management.
- Experience operating databases in partnership with vendors, managed services, or professional services teams.
- Experience transitioning responsibilities from outsourced DBAs to internal teams.
- AWS certifications (Associate level or higher).
- Snowflake certification or formal Snowflake training.
- Experience supporting hybrid environments during cloud transitions.
