- Supports the Sr Workplace Strategist and other studio members in information gathering and functional planning activities.
- Develops stacking and blocking plans as well as detailed space requirements workbooks.
- Supports the development of room data sheets for typical and special purpose spaces as required by the project, particularly drafting requirements and 3D modeling as required.
- Supports the delivery of information gathering work shops.
- Supports requirements documentation.
- Works with other studio team members to apply information from the functional program through space layout and design activities to translate requirements into functional space layouts in AutoCAD.
- Supports the development of interior design and furniture concept documents including research of materials/finishes as required, ordering samples and obtaining other technical information.
- Supports the development of digital presentations to communicate design concepts, options and intent in support of client decision making.
- Renders design ideas in the form of 3-D renderings, work drawings, plans, models and schemes using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Performs site verification, site measurements, furniture inventory and equipment inventory.
- Delivers space planning services including layouts for reconfigurations and or minor modifications.
- Develops complete working drawing packages and specifications for low complexity design projects in accordance with all applicable codes and standards under the direction of Intermediate and Senior designers.
- Provides other interior design services as required.
- Complies with all regulatory, environmental, health and safety requirements.
- Incorporates sustainable practices, where practical, into project delivery, in accordance with client and BGIS processes.
- Supports the completions of technical assessments of client locations in support of strategic planning and programs.
- Supports the development of detailed furniture specifications and documentation required to procure furniture in accordance with the client standards, requirements and supply arrangements and procurement policies.
- Develops detailed workpoint typicals to communicate functional requirements including 3D models.
- Supports the development of tender documents for the client.
- Supports the hand-off of delivery and installation of furniture to the MAC team and provides assistance as required through the implementation process.
- Manages time on different tasks effectively and reports delays, barriers to progress and or schedule impacts to their project lead.
- Supports the development and management of project reporting materials.
- Reports progress to the project lead on a regular basis to support the effective management of project schedules and costs.
- Maintains positive relations to meet client objectives.
- Effectively and pro-actively communicates with concerned parties, such as Clients, contractors and project lead to ensure Client satisfaction and BGIS's success.
- Develops strong internal relationships with other line of business in order to ensure alignment and promote and support integrated delivery of services - One BGIS.
- Skilled in interior design and documentation. (1-5 years in interior design role delivering interior design projects)
- Strong drafting and AutoCAD skills. (Experience with and understanding of activity-based workplace models is an asset)
- Ability to develop 3D models and rendering using sketchup AutoCAD 3D or other. (Experience planning and designing corporate interiors including work with specification of systems furniture)
- Working knowledge and understanding of building and fire codes, accessibility standards and other industry standards such as LEED, WELL or others. (Experience space planning and working drawing development.)
- Ability to develop creative and functional interior design solutions to solve client issues in partnership with more senior team members. (Experience working through the full lifecycle of a project from program development to implementation)
- Strong communication skills (written, oral and visual) to effectively convey design information and intent as well as general relationship and service delivery tasks.
- Strong organizational and time management skills. (Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously)
- Software proficiencies including MS Excel, MS Project, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, AutoCAD, Sketchp, Bluebeam, Publisher.
- Working towards NCIDQ certification
- BAID degree from a CIDA accredited post-secondary school or equivalent program (CIDA accredited)
