The NP practices according to the philosophy and standards of UHN and the Division of Nephrology and integrates knowledge and skill from nursing and medicine in order to assess, diagnose, treat and evaluate individuals who have renal failure requiring in-center hemodialysis. The role is a balance of independent practice and collaboration with the Nephrology interdisciplinary health care teams.Qualifications
  • Completion of Masters Degree Program in Nursing
  • Registered Nurse (EC) certification required
  • Nurse Practitioner (NP) Adult or Primary Care certificate required
  • Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing
  • Three to five years clinical practice in Nephrology nursing in an acute treatment center
  • National certification in Nephrology Nursing from the Canadian Nurses Association required.
  • Gerontological certification preferred
  • Experience in nursing research methodology preferred
  • Eligible for cross-appointment to an academic institution preferred
  • Membership in the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) and CANNT preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal and customer services skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Excellent decision making, problem recognition and problem solving skills
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Program planning and evaluation methodology skills
  • Commitment to collaborative practice

  • Ability to utilize information technology
  • National certification in Nephrology Nursing from the Canadian Nurses Association required.
  • Nurse Practitioner Association of Ontario preferred.
