Apply to connect with a Talent Acquisition Partner who can provide you more details!The Industrial Weld Trainer is responsible for providing comprehensive hands-on and classroom training to welders, ensuring compliance with industry and customer requirements. This role involves developing and maintaining training materials, as well as offering technical support to the Fabrication Department. The Weld Trainer will contribute to the growth, skill enhancement, and quality assurance of the Welders while fostering a safety-conscious environment. This position involves direct interaction with employees and collaboration with other departments to ensure effective training and welding process implementation.Essential Duties:
  • Coordinate with the Manufacturing department to develop job rotations and hands-on training plans for welders, covering welding techniques, safety practices, and quality standards
  • Administer and oversee the apprenticeship program to support current apprentices in accordance with the Ontario training standard.
  • Administer the practical pre assessment test for potential welders
  • Define and measure success metrics and monitor training progress
  • Develop and maintain skill matrix for welding personnel
  • Learn and apply the Cleaver Brooks build process to align welder progression with collective agreement requirements.
  • Maintain accurate training records and generate reports as needed.
  • Provide constructive feedback and conduct regular performance reviews involving trainers and new welding personnel.
  • Assist manufacturing and HR department in the orientation of new employees
  • Create and maintain a Welder Training Database to align with changing industry and customer demands.
  • Ensure compliance with weld processes and the ASME code.
  • Provide guidance and expertise during production welding and manufacturing processes.
  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner;
  • Develop alternative solutions and assist in problem solving activities

  • Post-secondary education in a scientific field preferred.
  • Completion of a technical welding school or equivalent experience.
  • ASME Section IX certified welder preferred.
  • AWS CWI certification preferred.
Skills and Experience:
  • Proficiency in SMAW, SAW, FCAW-G, MCAW and GMAW techniques, with expertise in carbon and stainless steels.
  • Experience in writing standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Proficient in blueprint reading and welding symbols.
  • Familiarity with welding specifications and company product lines.
  • Understanding of standard tools, materials, and practices within the welding industry.
  • Knowledgeable in the assembly process of major fabricated components.
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and comprehensive
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees of the organization.

  • Computer-savvy with the ability to effectively utilize various software tools.
  • Positive role model, demonstrating safety, quality, and technique during training and execution
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements:
  • Able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
  • Flexibility to work days, afternoons and weekend shifts dependent upon the required need
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Possess good hand-eye coordination.
  • Able to bend, squat, twist, and kneel.
  • Proficient in using hand and power tools
  • Will be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, welding fumes and machine lubricants and/or oils.
  • Must be able and willing to work with and properly use all necessary and/or required personal protective equipment including, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed shoes, hard hats and fall protection.
