In this role, the Design Manager, Industrial, oversees the management of one or several industrial projects and leads the multidisciplinary team of coordinators associated with them. They are responsible for the entire design process, across all disciplines, from architecture to engineering. They are responsible for the entire design process, across all disciplines, from architecture to engineering. The role does not require being a process specialist, but rather mastering the development of industrial building design and its specific requirements, whether related to applicable regulations and standards, environmental controls, integration of equipment and systems, or ensuring functional performance.The industrial sector is a strategic market for Pomerleau, and the opportunities for growth are numerous.What you will do
- Develop processes and tools for design management specific to the industrial sector
- Lead the design strategy by advising and influencing stakeholders, including construction and estimating teams
- Use creativity and technical expertise to challenge, guide, and validate conceptual solutions
- Manage architects, engineers, and external consultants. Establish the design schedule and structure deliverables
- Optimize design, identify risks, and propose innovative solutions
- Ensure constructability of concepts by acting as a key interface between design and construction teams
- In collaboration with the Vice President, Industrial Construction, develop and maintain strong relationships with public and private clients across various sectors: manufacturing, water treatment, energy, data centers, and more
- Work in an “integrated team” mode within a flexible and mobile environment: Pomerleau office, project office, or job site
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or a related field
- Membership in a professional order (OIQ, OAQ)
- 10+ years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in a similar role, preferably on building projects that house a process, manufacturing, or industrial activity
- Experience both on the designer side (professional service firms) and the builder side (general or specialized contractors), which would be considered an asset
- Excellent understanding of BIM-VDC virtual modeling approaches
- Bilingualism in French and English, considered an asset
