My client is a niche environmental consulting firm focused on the areas of regulatory affairs and permitting, Indigenous engagement and relationship building, water stewardship, closure and reclamation planning, compliance and environmental management, and project management. Their primary focus in mining and mineral exploration, and they lead permitting and regulatory affairs matters for many projects. They expect to double in size over the next two years and due to their continued success and growth and a very strong and successful brand name. They operate at the intersection of industry, communities, and government, playing a crucial role in defining successful pathways for project advancement. They often act as an "owner's representative," renowned for their ability to tackle strategic, complex problems and deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions.My client is currently in search of a highly experienced Senior Hydrogeologist and Team Lead to work on a wide range of projects in the industrial, infrastructure and mining industries, including tailings pond and waste rock assessments, acid rock drainage, metals leaching, mine permitting, environmental impact assessments, fractured bedrock assessment, aquifer mapping, well design and testing, aquifer evaluation, stratigraphic interpretation, water supply work, and groundwater modeling.Remote / WFH / Hybrid: 100% Remote anywhere in CanadaTravel: MinimalSalary: $120k - $190k, plus health benefits, profit-sharing, annual performance bonus, signing bonus (Team Lead $120k - $160k, Practice Lead $145k - $190k)Responsibilities:
  • Lead hydrogeological, geological, and geotechnical studies related to water resources including the mining sector and contribute to providing high level strategic advice to clients.
  • Provide technical guidance on operational water management, including dewatering studies and operations, and analytical and numerical groundwater flow modeling in support of geotechnical stability.
  • Design and manage complex mine water management studies and programs involving the collection of hydrogeological field data and data interpretation/evaluation.
  • Connect between related disciplines such as geochemistry, geophysics, and surface water management, for innovative approaches to meet client needs.
  • Design, direct and oversee field work programs, including site characterization, drilling supervision, well installation and maintenance, hydraulic testing, and water quality sampling.
  • Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, analysis, and reporting.
  • Prepare and/or manage technical documents related to investigation plans, testing, findings, and recommendations.
  • Lead and support project development and delivery (proposals, project management, client relations, senior reviews, team development and training).
  • Work collaboratively with other senior members of the group to implement the business growth strategy.
  • Mentor junior and intermediate staff to support their growth and professional development.
  • Interact with clients to identify and develop new business opportunities. You will play a pivotal role in preparing technical and commercial proposals, showcasing your expertise and contributing to the growth of our organization.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master's Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related discipline.
  • 8+ years of professional experience, including at least 3 years in the mining sector and consulting experience.
  • Professional Geologist or Engineer designation, or ability to obtain registration.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, problem solving, writing and people skills.
  • Strong self-leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, timely, and tactfully interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to evaluate data and identify cost-effective environmentally responsible responses to clients.
  • Ability to interact and collaborate with a wide variety of external clients, subcontractors and third-party stake holders.
  • Highly proficient with analytical geology concepts, research, investigation, technology, measurement tools, software, and techniques.
