Overview:Our client is seeking an experienced professional to lead complex turnaround projects at their Lloydminster, AB, Canada facilities, including the refinery, upgrader, and ethanol plant. The successful candidate reports directly to the VP Canadian Refining and will manage critical maintenance shutdowns and startups, ensuring timely, safe, and budget-compliant execution. This role demands collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance performance across contractor and internal teams.Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular assessments to ensure alignment with turnaround delivery models and achieve business objectives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to extend intervals between turnarounds and update long-term strategic plans.
  • Ensure adherence to Operations Integrity Management Systems and support the development of turnaround scope and objectives.
  • Manage capital and expense projects, ensuring resource allocations meet facility needs.
  • Maintain the Turnaround Milestone Schedule and deliver presentations to align leadership teams.
  • Define and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for turnaround success, focusing on safety and environmental compliance.
  • Compile executive summary reports and maintain historical data for future planning.
  • Engage in standardization and improvement initiatives through technical networks and cross-functional projects.
  • Develop contracting plans and support supply chain management in procuring service contracts.
  • Lead steering teams to ensure turnaround readiness and effective risk management.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to the team, aligning performance with business objectives through feedback and development initiatives.
  • Drive the achievement of world-class turnaround events, with a focus on the 2028 Upgrader turnaround.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 16 years of leadership experience in managing multidisciplinary teams for turnaround planning, scheduling, and execution, or equivalent technical, maintenance, or project leadership experience.
  • Extensive expertise in change and project management.
  • Experience in the petroleum refining or petrochemical sectors is required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Open to Canadian or US citizens, with sponsorship available for US citizens to obtain a Permanent Resident Card (PR Card).
