At ALS, we encourage you to dream big.When you join us, you’ll be part of a global team harnessing the power of scientific testing and data-driven insights to build a healthier future.About the PositionIndependently conducts routine and non-routine analyses of geological samples, fusion, and cupellation.Specific ResponsibilitiesCrucible management and set up/prepare samples for fusion;Perform fusion and cupellation processes using furnace tools;Ensure all safe work procedures and standard working procedures are strictly adhered to;Ensure cleaning and maintenance schedules are complete;Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;Other duties as assigned.Required Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesFamiliarity with all fire assay methods and their respective digestion volumes and finish methods;Strong analytical and mechanical skills;Organized and highly motivated individual;Detail-oriented individual;Ability to work independently or as part of a team;Ability to effectively handle a high volume of work and time-critical issues;Basic English communication skillsSafety oriented.Required QualificationsCompletion of High School Education required.Diploma or Degree in Science preferred.Laboratory experience in a production-oriented environment would be an asset.Physical DemandsAble to lift up to 50lbs;Able to work within a hot and dusty environment;Must be willing to comply with the following H&S requirements:Be clean-shaven for Personal Protective Equipment (respirator);Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required;Shower before the end of each shift;Undergo a lead blood test required every six months;Able to stand for a full shift;Able to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities;Possess manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks;Please note that ALS operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work, including weekends.Our benefits includesAn estimated hourly pay of $23.45 at the time of posting.
