- Coordinate and supervise multidisciplinary teams, engineers and technologists, for preliminary and detailed design (electrical, civil, structural, protection and control, SCADA).
- Develop safe engineering solutions by conducting technical analysis and solving complex problems.
- Conduct and oversee technical studies to resolve design issues or on-site issues.
- Define the scope of engineering services and design criteria, and review technical documentation to ensure quality, adherence to budgets, and meeting deadlines.
- Coordinate internal and client design reviews to ensure compliance with codes and standards.
- Work with the project manager to align the scope, schedule, costs, risks, and engineering deliverables.
- Prepare cost estimates, scope descriptions, and timelines for proposals and projects.
- Apply and monitor QA/QC practices, ensuring all deliverables meet quality requirements and control milestones (Stage-Gate).
- Monitor the technical progress of projects, identify and resolve issues to prevent impacts on budgets and timelines.
- Provide technical support during construction and commissioning, including buildability constructability reviews, site inspections, and on-site troubleshooting, and liaise with clients and regulatory authorities.
- Profile
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in HV/MV substation engineering, ideally for electric utilities.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, with a specialization in power systems (an asset).
- Professional member of the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC) or eligible for registration.
- Strong experience in electrical substation design and a thorough understanding of utility requirements.
- Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, IEEE standards, and Canadian utility standards.
- Valid Canadian driver's licence.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; knowledge of French is an asset.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary designs and construction projects (an asset).
- Willingness to adjust work schedule to collaborate with the project team in the Pacific Time Zone.
