The Operations Planning West team is seeking an EIT or Engineer who will be responsible for hydraulic capacity analysis and operational support for TC Energy’s NGTL and Foothills gas pipeline systems. This role will provide the opportunity to expand knowledge of the Canadian regulated pipeline business and the natural gas industry.What you’ll do
- As part of a team, plan and support the operation of TC Energy’s NGTL and Foothills gas pipeline systems
- Plan and coordinate scheduling of maintenance activities with internal departments as well as interconnecting pipelines and various shippers
- Prepare and review outage procedures for pipeline maintenance
- Perform various analytical/technical assignments requiring a general familiarity within a broad field of engineering/technology
- Conduct independent studies and analyses to develop interpretations and conclusions in a fast-paced real time environment
- Problem-solve using a combination of standard processes or methods previously developed
- Utilize a pipeline hydraulic simulation model to plan the operation of various gas pipeline systems, optimize capacity, and determine facility outage or maintenance capacity impacts
- Interact and collaborate with a variety of teams including Gas Control, Field Operations, Mainline Planning, Customer Solutions, Pipeline Integrity, Program Planning, Engineering, Capital Projects, Commercial, and External Customers
- Respond to tight timelines due to the dynamic nature of the day-to-day operation
- Occasional field site visitation to present and discuss operational topics
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning
- Encourage and foster initiative and creativity
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Applied Science or equivalent degree
- Must be registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer with APEGA
- 3-5 years or more of progressive relevant experience
- Knowledge of gas pipeline hydraulics and familiarity with the natural gas transmission systems would be an asset
- 3-5 years or more of progressive relevant experience
- Strong planning, organizational, analytical, problem solving, decision making, and technical skills
- Strong oral and written business communication skills and ability to negotiate and influence
- Mature, self-motivated, and able to make independent decisions
- Effective in a rapidly changing environment with changing priorities
