Fly In, Fly Out PositionOn behalf of our client, NCC Development Group Inc., we are currently recruiting for a Carpenter in Iqaluit, Nunavut. This is 5 weeks on 2 weeks off rotation. Carpenters are responsible for layout, installation, repairing, finishing, and maintaining various structures, fixtures, and buildings. Other duties will include designing, cutting, and measuring materials according to a client's requirements.The successful candidate for this position will be a self-starter who take initiative and does what work needs to be done. They will also possess the ability to work productively, efficiently and effectively under tight timescales and pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail and quality.As a Carpenter, you will be responsible for:
- Conducting repair work and installation of doors, windows, drywall, cabinets, stairs and other fixtures as required.
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
- Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, and safety regulations using measuring tools.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials.
- Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems.
- Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moldings and hardware.
- Supervise apprentices and other construction workers.
- Ability to assess the quality of woodwork and materials.
- Ability to operate tools, machines and other equipment.
- Ability and wiliness to lift large and/or heavy objects up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods, climb and pull.
- You have a valid driver's license.
- You have your own tool belt with hand tools.
- Will be exposed to winter temperature extremes in a harsh climate when temperature drop in excess of -50C. The successful candidate will be required to work both outdoors and indoors.
- The successful candidate will be required to work a shift rotational schedule. This is a fly in fly out position.
