The SME (Subject Matter Expert) will support operations, engineering, and technology teams in managing, validating, and optimizing Nokia fixed-network products and management platforms.
This role involves hands on technical guidance, troubleshooting, documentation, procedural development, network assessments, and collaboration with Nokia TAC and R&D teams.Key Responsibilities
1. Operational & Engineering Support
- Support Operations, Engineering, and Technology teams with as built configurations and deployments within the lab facility.
- Assist engineering teams in testing and verifying software updates or network changes related to supplier (Nokia) devices.
- Provide engineering expertise regarding architectural choices involving Nokia products.
- Create Method of Procedures (MOPs) and coordinate deployment across network environments with Operations teams.
- Deploy and implement network changes following industry and Nokia best practices.
- Act as liaison with Nokia TAC and R&D for technical escalations and execution of proactive deliverables, ensuring faster restoration and dedicated engagement when required.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues across software and hardware components.
- Guide teams in monitoring SLA performance, identifying threats, and assessing both current and potential future network issues.
- Act as SME to define and establish performance metrics, identifying key areas of service management.
- Facilitate the identification of control mechanisms and critical action or recovery paths for network and system components.
- Perform scheduled network health check audits and support network performance analysis.
- Assist with operational readiness activities such as:
o Network changes
o Retrofits
- Support MOP validation and testing, including occasional maintenance window involvement when pre approved.
- Assist in operationalizing new Nokia technologies, including:
o Diagnostic and restoration documentation
o Playbooks and knowledge materials
o Alarming, event management, and logging
o Automation tools, scripts, and reporting
8. Disaster Recovery & Resiliency Testing
- Collaborate with Network Operations to create network/service test cases for disaster recovery, resiliency, and redundancy testing.
- Support development of restoration plans, including disaster recovery trailers if applicable.
- Work with teams and Nokia TAC to communicate required network changes, priorities, risks, and expected improvements.
- Provide recommendations or direct actions to prevent outages or reduce impact through analytic trend assessment.
- SME experience supporting Nokia 5520 AMS and Altiplano management platforms.
- Hands on expertise with Nokia Fixed Network devices, including:
o7360
o MF 2
oSF8 M
oFX4 / FX8 / FX16
oSF8 GW
- Proficiency in Nokia platforms:
o AMS 5520
- Strong knowledge of Nokia fixed broadband technologies, network configurations, and operational workflows.
- 8+ years of experience in networking, fixed access technologies, or related SME roles.
