- Contribute to the design and execution of Canada Life's technology risk management framework
- Coordinate with Canada's 1st Line of Defence and other oversight functions to develop, implement, and continuously improve on risk management frameworks, policies, standards, and processes across the Canadian Business Units
- Provide independent oversight and analysis of current and emerging risks identified and assessed by the business through Risk and Control Assessments, Initiative and Compliance Risk Assessments, Risk Indicators, Risk Opinions, and other types of assessments
- Provide monitoring and oversight of the technology control environment
- Assist with technology risk related regulatory examinations and communication, conduct reviews to identify possible risks and monitor the implementation progress of the remedial action(s)
- Promote the importance of risk awareness and the development of a culture that leverages risk insights to enable better decision-making
- Support and contribute to risk reporting processes including the quarterly CRO update
- Contribute as a key member of the Technology Risk Management team and share ideas and innovative approaches for effective risk oversight and monitoring
- Support technology risk management projects and activities as required
- Foster, advocate for, and strengthen Canada Life's overall technology risk posture by promoting practices that align with our Risk Management policies, standards, and risk appetite
- Develop/provide subject matter expertise in key technologies such as Cloud, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
- 2 - 5 years of experience in Technology Risk covering areas such as information security, cloud computing, infrastructure, architecture, and engineering - preferably within banking and insurance sectors
- Deep understanding of how large financial organizations operate within in a regulated environment - experience across three lines of defense, with demonstrated 2nd line experience strongly preferred
- Successful completion of CISA, CISSP, CISM, CGEIT, CRISC or equivalent certifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Technology or equivalent experience
- Strong Understanding of federal and provincial technology risk regulatory requirements (OSFI, FSRA, AMF, BCFSA), and industry best practices (COBIT, NIST, ISO standards, etc.)
- Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Experience in key technologies such as Cloud, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence
- Exposure to various data analytic tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
- Proven ability to identify, analyze and translate risk in the context of what it means to achieving business objectives
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills with an ability to manage and prioritize multiple deliverables
- Demonstrated capability to build and foster strong relationships through collaboration, influencing change, and building consensus
- Constant learner and passionate about technology and risk governance
- Experience with ServiceNow GRC or other GRC platforms is an asset
