We are committed to fostering excellence, innovation, belonging and community in all that we do.The Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation (VPRI) serves to encourage, facilitate, administer and promote research at SFU; advocate for university research generally; and guide policy development at university and government levels.About the RoleThe Coordinator, Undergraduate Research works within the Vice-President, Research and Innovation (VPRI) office as the central point of contact for undergraduate research at SFU. The role works in collaboration with the Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President Learning and Teaching, Associate Vice-President Research, SFU Library, faculties, Graduate Studies, and various other units to plan, coordinate, and promote a variety of initiatives that engage undergraduate students in research at the university. The role is involved in the development and implementation of communication and digital strategies to effectively promote research opportunities and ensure the visibility of undergraduate research at SFU.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Business Administration, Communications or other related discipline and three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Understanding of an academic setting or university environment. Good knowledge of university resources, policies and procedures. Good knowledge of research concepts and principles, and an interest in undergraduate research and its role in student development. Familiarity with web CMS and other digital marketing tools. Familiarity with Canadian governmental funding agency research policies and rules. Experience with payroll and other financial systems and tools. Skilled in managing budgets, financial records and award disbursements. Good knowledge of event management industry best practices. Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal, written and presentation) skills. Excellent organizational, planning and project coordination skills. Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical reasoning and attention to detail. Ability to work independently, establish priorities, and meet deadlines. Ability to build relationships and facilitate collaboration between diverse groups. Ability to take initiative, exercise mature judgment, diplomacy and tact. Proficient in the use of a variety of office software applications.
