With a background in corporate communications, you are a whiz at crafting a comprehensive communications strategy, and well-versed in creating compelling and engaging content that is aligned with our brand voice and values.As the Senior Advisor, Communications, you will manage and implement Canfor's external communications strategy and work collaboratively across the Corporate Affairs team to support internal and executive communications and community relations. Working with people across the company, you will lead communications initiatives, write stories, and support organizational goals through a comprehensive communications approach.Applications for this position must be submitted no later than 4pm, Sunday April 19th.A day in the life of our Senior Advisor, Communications will include:
- Implement communications strategies to enhance and protect the corporate brand and reputation through external communications, including social and digital media.
- Seek out and write interesting stories about our people and company for internal and external use, in alignment with strategic goals and messaging.
- Provide other writing services such as presentations, speaking notes, articles, fact sheets, etc.
- Working with the Canfor Brand team, work with internal and external design and video expertise and agencies as needed to translate ideas to the creative teams; oversee concept development, design/production, editing and post-production.
- Oversee the social media strategy and ongoing implementation.
- Support the internal communications program to drive employee engagement and deliver on internal initiatives across the business.
- Monitor and measure content performance and audience engagement to inform future content strategies, use analytics and feedback to drive continuous improvement, and share updates with key stakeholder groups.
- Support the development of materials for executive communications, issues management, media relations, government relations initiatives as needed.
- Manage the writing and production of Canfor's Sustainability Report including developing a workplan, content management, design coordination and internal and external promotion.
- University degree with emphasis in communications, political science, business, economics, public policy administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of eight years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience with forest industry and/or natural resources industry considered an asset.
- Proven experience developing corporate communications strategies and working with company-wide business units.
- Experience working across a corporation, including with executives.
- Impeccable verbal and written communications skills essential.
- A strong understanding of digital communication strategies and fluent in the core social media channels.
- Active listener, learner, facilitator, and strong relationship manager.
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines and skilled at developing workplans.
- Ability to work independently.
