Job Description:Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Financial Management
  • Complete full-cycle accounting for multiple companies, including month-end close, accruals, prepaids, COGS, inventory, and full balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, budget variance analysis, and departmental financial reporting.
  • Review and enter daily sales; verify cash deposits and reconcile against Cash Audit team reports.
  • Manage full accounts payable cycle: invoice entry, approvals, payments, vendor pricing, and team training.
  • Oversee accounts receivable including intercompany billing, posting, collections, and payment matching.
  • Conduct labor, cost of sales, revenue center, and departmental analysis for management.
  • Support budgeting, financial forecasting, and performance monitoring.
  • Prepare and submit GST, Non-Resident Tax, government labor programs, and Tourism Levy filings.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll for 150-200 employees, including T4s and ROEs.
  • Administer group benefits and RRSP programs.
  • Act as the payroll software super-user; provide setup and system support to managers and employees.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential employee records and HR documentation.
  • Manage job postings, applicant tracking, and new hire onboarding documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Alberta Employment Standards and oversee WCB claims and return-to-work programs.
  • Oversee VLT and CDU cash management processes and support Cash Audit team operations.
  • Manage departmental cash floats, petty cash, and ATM reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with cash-handling security protocols and financial safeguarding measures.
  • Collaborate with the Controller on development and rollout of new accounting policies and procedures.
  • Implement and support risk management procedures and training.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety program requirements.
  • Uphold privacy, confidentiality, and internal policy standards.
  • Supervise and schedule the Intermediate Accountant, AR team, and Cash Audit staff.
  • Support labor management and staffing efficiency.
  • Lead monthly team meetings and maintain clear, consistent departmental communication.
  • Conduct performance reviews and assist with compensation planning.
  • Implement process improvements across accounting and administrative functions.
  • Collaborate with hotel leadership and head office teams to align operations with business goals.
Requirements:Ability to walk, kneel, climb stairs, sit for extended periods, and lift up to 20 kg.Must be available for occasional on-call needs in emergencies or staffing shortages.Strong leadership, communication, time management, and organizational skills.Knowledge of Alberta Labor Standards, Human Rights, IFRS, and ASPE.Proficiency with ERP accounting software, Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Teams; experience with PMS, POS, merchant services, and Push Operations is an asset.Hospitality or retail accounting experience preferred.Degree/diploma in Accounting or Business Administration; CPA designation or progress an asset.Criminal record check required due to cash-handling responsibilities.
