To accomplish this objective, this role oversees the delivery of employment support to Church members throughout the area by understanding local employment needs and trends, identifying services to be offered to leaders and members, and recruiting and training employment services staff. Under the direction of this role, the employment services staff offer online and in-person services to foster greater self-reliance through employment and self-employment, share local job leads and networking contacts, and find community resources to help meet employment needs. This is a people manager role that manages the work of others (may include mixed workforce).Responsibilities:Leadership & Oversight:Provides strategic direction and operational oversight for a team of area employment specialists. Ensures alignment with area employment initiatives and Church welfare and self-reliance principles. Supports the area welfare self-reliance manager in executing area-wide strategies.Oversees and helps execute the employment services training and support to area leadership, employment services missionaries and volunteers, and local welfare and self-reliance managers.Responsible, in partnership with HR, to hire employees and recommends advancement, promotion, or any other change of status of employees within their reporting line. This includes performance management and recommendations for discipline and termination.Develops, administers, and monitors the division's annual operating budget to ensure alignment with strategic objectives, optimize resource allocation, and safeguard Church assets through sound financial stewardship and compliance with established policies.Strategic Planning & Execution:Collaborates with area leadership and the welfare self-reliance department to develop and implement employment and self-employment strategies in the area.Guides area employment specialists in translating strategic objectives into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.Oversees the monitoring, tracking, and reporting of progress and success through key performance indicator reports, including tracking support to specific groups such as Church leaders and returned missionaries. Works to align performance metrics and activities to ensure objectives are accomplished.Performance Management:Coaches team members to set and achieve goals that are aligned to area employment initiatives.Builds the capacity and capability of each team member.Monitors team performance through key indicators and reporting tools. Analyzes data from specialists to assess progress, identify trends, and recommend improvements.Ensures that team efforts are aligned with area goals and member needs.Process & Policy Leadership:Ensures consistent implementation of standardized processes and policies within the areas.Guides area employment specialists to adapt practices to local contexts while maintaining fidelity to Church guidelines and area leadership direction.Serves as a liaison between headquarters and field operations.Champions welfare and self-reliance principles and coaches area employment specialists to do the same.Training & Development:Trains and develops area employment specialists and oversees the training and development of missionaries, and volunteers.Ensures that training programs are effectively delivered and updated to reflect current tools, resources, and best practices.Oversees the training of employees, missionaries, volunteers, and Church leaders on the topics of setting up an employment center; recruiting, calling, and training employment services missionaries; finding materials and resources available to local leaders and members; supporting those struggling with employment and self-reliance; and creating relationships with and partnering with local employers, technical schools, and universities.Team Building & Staff Management:Builds a high-performing team culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.Conducts regular team meetings, one-on-one interviews, support with setting and achieving goals, and performance reviews.Supports professional growth and capability building of each team member.Stakeholder Engagement:Counsels together with area leadership and oversees the coordination with agent stake presidents and other key stakeholders to ensure employment services are responsive to local needs.Facilitates communication between area employment specialists and welfare and self-reliance managers.Community & Employer Relations:Coaches area employment specialists in developing and cultivating relationships with employers, educational institutions, and community organizations.May represent the area in high-level engagements or partnerships to expand employment opportunities for members.Operational Excellence:Ensures that employment centers and services operate efficiently and effectively.Identifies and resolves operational challenges, allocates resources appropriately, and promotes continuous improvement across all employment services functions.Qualifications:Required:10 years of any combination of related experience or progress towards or completion of a relevant university (post secondary) degree or an industry-recognized certification.Former work-related leadership experience.Success in operations management with a specific focus on managing teams at multiple locations.Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, supervise, and motivate team and groups, including volunteers.Seasoned leadership experience with proven ability to collaborate with multiple key stakeholders, including local ward and stake leaders.Ability to influence and inspire others.Successful formulation and implementation of strategic vision, both short- and long-term including the translation of a strategic plan into an operational plan.Assessment and analysis of strategic opportunities and outcomes, the identification of performance gaps, evaluation and analysis of results, and the ability to identify needed change and how to implement those changes.Innovative and creating thinking with a focus on seeing hidden opportunities and solutions.Knowledge of laws and government regulations pertaining to employment and labor standards.Communication of complex ideas verbally and in writing.Strong negotiating skills with a proven ability to find win-win solutions.To successfully perform the essential functions of the job, there may be physical requirements which need to be met such as standing, walking, or sitting for long periods of time and using computer monitors/equipment.Preferred:Master's degree preferred in a related field.Experience working with mid-to upper-management and/or with entrepreneurial start-ups, sales, marketing or other business development roles.
