Spectrum Resource GroupJOB SUMMARY: Operational timber cruisers mentor a compass-person and prepare data for cruise compilation. They identify and maximize timber harvest opportunities through timber reconnaissance and development.This is a full-time field position with limited office work in the Northern Interior backcountry of BC. Crews can expect to work 10 hour days on a 10 on 4 off rotation in remote locations. Accommodations can vary shift to shift, typical accommodations are a tent bush camp or logging camps. Per diems will be paid when food is not provided.This position is expected to start in May 2024.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Fundamental knowledge of the BC Timber Cruising Manual
  • Strong skills in Forest Measurement Practices
  • Delegate day to day work and applicable training for compass-person (cruising assistant)
  • Maintain field quality and best practices
  • Fundamental knowledge of cruising practices
  • Ability to effectively use CruiseMate
  • Navigate forest service roads and off-highway driving
  • Administrative support with day-to-day production and payroll tracking
  • Knowledge of compilation programs, such as CompMate, are an asset
  • Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright and Wright Canada Holdings’ culture of safety and employee ownership.
  • Comply with applicable federal, provincial and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.
  • Position will require travel.
  • During emergencies or natural disasters may be required to be on duty for the duration of the disaster.

  • 1 year experience in Timber Cruising
  • The ability and desire to collect high quality, and accurate data
  • A high level of efficiency with all of the tools used in Timber Cruising
  • ATV and Resource Road Driving experience
  • Ability to lead and direct crews,
  • A safety conscious attitude
  • The ability to be efficient, safe and timely in the field
  • The ability to both work independently and as part of a team
  • The ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasked environment
  • Experience remote camping considered an asset
  • Chainsaw experience considered an asset
  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees, clients and vendors.
