The company has built a solid reputation for the quality and robustness of its mechanical designs and builds.PositionWith offices in Stoney Creek, Boisbriand and Saguenay, we are currently looking for a Fitter / Welder attached to our Stoney Creek team serving a varied clientele throughout Ontario.Under the responsibility of the Operation Manager, the Fitter / Welder performs the assembly work necessary for the manufacturing and repairs of lifting devices for our customersthroughout Ontario. In your activities, you will have to interact with skilled tradespeople, operators, supervisors, and equipment.Major Accountabilities
  • Setting up and operating trade machinery such as band saws, radial drill presses, manual and automatic oxyfuel cutting, flux cored arc welding and MIG equipment
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and diagrams
  • Planning the sequence of tasks and deciding how to cut steel in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Fabrication and assembly of structural steel details by drilling, punching holes, grinding, cutting, tack welding, fastening, bolting, or bending and shaping structural steel into the desired pattern.
  • Performing job duties with precision
Typical duties
  • Follows instructions given by the Lead Hand and/or Plant Manager
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and orderly work area.
  • Interfaces well with the Lead Hand as well as with all senior level employees
  • Wears appropriate safety gear in the performance of his/her duties.
  • Perform other shop duties when required.
  • Agree to go out on service jobs with service team technicians if required.
RequirementsQualifications
  • 3 to 4 years' experience in layouts
  • Proven proficiency in the preparation and assembly of structural steel / plates according to drawings
  • Ability to work with most steels.
  • Proficient with reading blueprints and shop instructions
  • Understand welding symbols.
  • Hold a current CWB flat welding ticket an asset.
  • Strong background related to fitting skills on large fabrications requiring tight tolerances.
  • Strong safety related skills working in heavy industrial environment.
