Calgary, Cold Lake, or Edmonton, ABPurpose of the RoleAt Worley Consulting, we help customers manage environmental liabilities and deliver effective, responsible site restoration across the asset lifecycle.As a Senior Environmental Scientist / Engineer / Technologist, you will play a key role in leading contaminated site assessment and remediation programs across Alberta. This role blends hands‑on field leadership with technical expertise, mentoring, and project delivery support.You will lead field programs, contribute to Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, provide technical oversight, and support Project Managers to ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high technical standard.This opportunity is well suited to experienced environmental professionals who are ready to take on broader leadership responsibility while continuing to apply strong technical judgment in the field. The role offers clear career progression within Worley’s Liability Management and Restoration (LMR) practice.The successful candidate will support projects for the Cold Lake AB business. Preference is given to individuals based or willing to relocate to Cold Lake; however, the role may be executed from Calgary or Edmonton, with travel to Cold Lake as required.Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee environmental field programs including surface water and groundwater monitoring, soil sampling, drilling oversight, borehole logging, monitoring well installations, test pitting, remedial excavations, and reclamation activities.
  • Balance approximately 50% field work with office-based technical, reporting, and project-support responsibilities.
  • Plan and execute Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, including supervision of field investigations and interpretation of results.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and technical leadership to junior and intermediate team members.
  • Support Project Managers with project planning, scheduling, cost control, subcontractor coordination, and client communication.
  • Prepare and promote site-specific health, safety, and sustainability plans, ensuring compliance with Worley standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports and documentation suitable for client and regulatory review.
QualificationsQualifications / Skill Set
  • Degree or Diploma in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Professional designation or designation in progress (e.g., Environmental Professional (EPT), P.Eng., P.Geo., P.Ag.); EIT or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • 7+ years of progressive environmental field experience, with a strong focus on contaminated site assessment and remediation.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to or reviewing Phase I and Phase II ESAs, groundwater reporting, remedial planning, and site closure projects in Alberta.
  • Strong working knowledge of Alberta contaminated sites regulations and guidance.
  • Experience leading or supervising field teams and field programs.
  • Self‑motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working across multiple projects in a consulting environment.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and ability to travel to project sites.
  • Oil and gas sector experience is considered an asset.
