At StarTech.com, we’re searching for a Sustaining Engineering Specialist to join our Product Development team for a full-time, 18-month contract opportunity.In this role, you’ll work across a wide range of products, from cables and docking stations to display mounts and more, ensuring product consistency, quality, and performance. In addition, you'll have the opportunity to combine electrical and mechanical design knowledge, work with advanced testing tools, and contribute directly to the delivery of high-quality products used by IT professionals around the world.What you will be responsible for:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and overseas factories to evaluate and implement product change design, specification and implementation including cost reduction initiatives, as well as product quality initiatives.
  • Analyze and interpret manufacturer change data, and proactively propose innovative, cost-effective product updates.
  • Create and refine technical documentation, including product requirements, testing procedures, and verification plans.
  • Maintain comprehensive and clear documentation for product specifications, process data, and testing workflows.
  • Conduct performance testing, comparative evaluations, and troubleshoot product samples to ensure compliance with existing specs and quality standards.
  • Prepare and present verification test reports with actionable insights for stakeholder decision-making
  • Serve as a technical liaison between internal teams and global suppliers to ensure timely and accurate communication regarding product modifications.
  • Partner with Product Managers, Vendor Management, Product Compliance, and Quality teams to execute product lifecycle transitions and ensure project success.
  • Provide insights and propose innovative product changes that balance performance, cost, and customer expectations.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive technical experience in product development, validation, and verification.
  • Proficiency in lab testing and diagnostic equipment
  • Experience with IT accessories, consumer electronics or high-speed signal product validation.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in technical documentation.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite for communication, tracking, and reporting.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable; comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated understanding of mechanical design principles and experience with physical product evaluations.
  • Previous experience with high-speed electronic signal debugging using oscilloscopes, vector network analyzers, and protocol analysis is desirable.
  • Experience working in environments involving complex supplier relationships and product transitions.
  • Familiarity with product compliance standards and global certification processes.
