
Lead Engineer - Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)

- Lead business development efforts, including identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, and cultivating client relationships.
- Provide technical leadership on multidisciplinary projects involving ITS planning, systems design, integration, and deployment.
- Oversee the development and implementation of ITS strategies and systems, such as adaptive signal control, Transit Signal Priority (TSP), traffic management centers, and data integration platforms.
- Collaborate with transportation planning, civil design, and traffic engineering teams to integrate ITS solutions across project scopes.
- Coordinate with the broader North American ITS and tolling practices to drive innovation and share resources.
- Engage with municipal and provincial clients to define functional requirements and deliver scalable, future-ready systems.
- Build and mentor a high-performing technical team focused on ITS technologies, standards, and innovation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Systems Engineering; Master’s degree is an asset.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario or eligible for licensure.
- Recognized as eligible or active under MTO RAQS for applicable ITS and traffic engineering categories.
- 10+ years of experience in ITS planning, design, and deployment.
- Proven leadership delivering ITS components within complex transportation or infrastructure projects.
- Strong familiarity with Canadian ITS standards, procurement models, and public-sector client requirements.
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience working with agencies such as MTO, Metrolinx, TTC, and municipal transportation departments.
- Knowledge of traffic signal systems, connected vehicle applications, ATMS platforms, and communication networks.
- Experience with public-private partnerships (P3s), alternative delivery models, or complex systems integration projects is an asset.
