This balance ensures that we foster collaboration, maintain our vibrant culture, and encourage in-person interaction and teamwork.Job DescriptionThe Digital Compositing Artist is responsible for assembling the visual elements of a visual effects shot to ensure artistic and technical consistency. They are involved at various stages of the 2D pipeline to deliver believable, polished, and photorealistic images. This role requires precision, creativity, and strong proficiency in Nuke. The artist works closely with supervision, production, and other departments, actively contributing to the final quality of projects.Main responsibilities:Master your craft
- Carry out assigned digital compositing tasks with precision and efficiency, in accordance with Rodeo FX standards.
- Create masks (rotoscoping) and apply clean plate techniques, retouching, and rig removal.
- Manage the full 2D pipeline: precomps, element synchronization, grain removal/addition, 2D tracking, compositing, color correction, and integration.
- Apply the appropriate methods and tools based on the nature of the shot.
- Respect priorities, deliverables, and production deadlines.
- Seamlessly integrate 2D and 3D elements in a realistic way.
- Maintain visual consistency across shots in line with the project's artistic direction.
- Collaborate with the supervisor and lead to refine the visual look of shots.
- Propose simple and elegant solutions to creative challenges.
- Adjust compositions to maximize their visual impact.
- Deliver clean, optimized, and technically solid shots.
- Identify technical issues and resolve them independently.
- Notify the appropriate departments of any upstream issues.
- Quickly implement feedback and notes received.
- Perform thorough quality control before submission.
- Communicate clearly and regularly with production and the supervision team.
- Share relevant information to ensure smooth project progression.
- Actively participate in daily reviews and follow-up meetings.
- Maintain a constructive and calm attitude, even under pressure.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and other departments.
- Stay up to date with new tools, techniques, and industry practices.
- Test and adopt more efficient methods throughout projects.
- Share knowledge and best practices with peers.
- Incorporate feedback to improve continuously.
- Contribute to a team culture focused on learning and quality.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in digital compositing within the visual effects industry.
- Proficiency in Nuke.
- Knowledge of Mocha or 3D tracking (an asset).
- Good understanding of photographic principles (lighting, color, reflections, etc.).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, autonomy, and attention to detail.
- Team player with a willingness to contribute to the growth of the department.
- Asset: knowledge of Flow.
- Short contract from April 27th to July 3rd
- 3x per week at the office.
