What you will do
- Lead tax workstreams on acquisitions/dispositions of Canadian and international real estate and entities.
- Support fund formation for sponsors, including vehicle selection, structure design, financing, Canadian access points, and investor side letters.
- Assist with development of detailed tax planning memos and structure reports
- Advise on JV arrangements and sponsor economics and their tax consequences for domestic and foreign investors.
- Advise on cross-border considerations such as EIFEL/interest limitation impacts, hybrid considerations, and foreign exchange/hedging implications and withholding tax.
- Build and review tax models to quantify after-tax cash flows, leakage, and exit scenarios.
- Taxable income computations and investor reporting through CDS and other channels.
- Oversee annual T2/T3/T5013 filings, NR4 and related information reporting, and partner/shareholder allocations for multi-vehicle, multi-asset platforms.
- CPA and completion (or near completion) of the CPA In-Depth Tax program or equivalent; experience in corporate/international tax, real estate, or funds.
- Public accounting firm experience.
- Strong client service skills with the ability to understand the client’s business.
- Demonstrated experience on cross-border real estate or private equity mandates, with comfort navigating treaty/withholding, financing, and entity selection.
- Strong project leadership: you can run multiple workstreams, coordinate cross-functional specialists, and communicate clearly with non-tax deal teams.
