Job Title: Mechanical TechnologistJob DescriptionWe are seeking a Mechanical Technologist to join a leading engineering company specializing in automated and tele robotic systems for the offshore and subsea market. The role involves hands-on support across mechanical assembly, electro mechanical integration, and system testing, working closely with a multidisciplinary engineering team.Responsibilities
  • Provide hands-on support in mechanical assembly, electro mechanical integration, and system testing.
  • Support prototype builds and installation of large sub assemblies.
  • Engage in full system testing of complex mechanical assemblies integrated with electrical wiring, PCBs, and unique power systems.
  • Build from approved drawings and work instructions.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly instructions, and wiring schematics.
  • Integrate electro mechanical components into complex systems.
  • Perform physical builds and work with large/heavy sub assemblies.
  • Support basic electrical tasks such as cable routing and interconnects.
  • Monitor inventory levels and recommend purchases as appropriate.
  • Deliver solutions that are fit for purpose and meet constraints by working directly with engineering.
  • Liaise with other disciplines as needed, including software, electrical, mechanical, project management, and operations.
  • Provide soldering support if there are any defects with product/inventory.
Essential Skills
  • College Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or Electro Mechanical Technology.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a hands-on production or prototype build environment.
  • Strong experience with mechanical assembly and system integration.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, assembly instructions, and wiring schematics.
  • Experience in integrating electro mechanical components into complex systems.
  • Comfort in performing physical builds and working with large/heavy sub assemblies.
  • Willingness to support basic electrical tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with subsea systems, AUVs, robotics, or sensor-based equipment.
  • Hands-on system testing and validation experience.
  • Ability to identify defects/issues and report clearly to sr. engineers.
  • 2+ years of exposure to CAD software, preferably in mechanical.
  • Mechatronics experience or multidisciplinary system experience.
Work EnvironmentThe role requires on-site work from Monday to Friday in a clean office environment. It offers an exciting opportunity to work with a leading subsea submersibles company on innovative projects. The initial project is slated for a minimum of 3 months with potential for extension based on workload. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Burnaby, BC.
