To this end, we have one associate teacher in every classroom from Pre-K to Grade 3 and one associate teacher for each grade team from Grades 4-6. Through the implementation of effective co-teaching strategies, students will reap the benefits of a more personalised curriculum.Position Duties:
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of the daily programme
  • Actively seek out ways to differentiate and personalise instruction
  • Work under the guidance of our Learner Support Coordinators to provide additional assistance to students in need when necessary
  • Continually develop your understanding of the PYP
  • Regularly meet with Lead Teacher(s) to discuss impact on student learning and effectiveness of team approach
  • Assist with emotional and social development of students
  • Plan and meet regularly with Lead Teacher(s)
  • Communicate openly with the Lead Teacher(s) regarding observations related to student progress
  • Assist with the evaluation and assessment of student progress
  • Help to prepare a suitable learning environment for students (material management, setting up interest centres, helping with displays etc.) during “prep periods”
  • Assist students in becoming self-regulated learners
  • Help to maintain an organised learning environment
  • Adhere to recess and lunch duty schedules
  • Adhere to Before and After-School Care duty schedules
  • Maintain classroom supervision in the absence of a Lead Teacher
  • Attend staff meetings, collaborative planning sessions, and other professional development when possible
  • Be involved in parent-teacher conferences
  • Become involved in our co-curricular programme during at least two terms.
  • Be available to support Specialist teachers when necessary
  • Occasionally TOC in other classrooms when necessary. This includes the PK classes.
  • Occasionally help out with large-scale school events (assemblies, concerts, camps, student-led conferences, etc.).
  • Develop a Teacher Professional Growth Plan (TPGP) and review it with the administrative coach.
Before and After-school Care (ASC):
  • Supervision of students from K-Grade 4
  • Responsible for signing students in and out of ASC, and communicating with parents
Candidates will be expected to have:
  • Canadian residency and be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • All of the requirements and certifications to teach in BC and hold an age appropriate First Aid Certificate

Work hours:
  • 8:00 am - 4:00 pm with the understanding that these may occasionally extend beyond 4:00 pm (4:30 pm on club days). Hours may vary slightly depending on start and end times of the Kindergarten program.
  • Be available to assist with new student assessments on one or two Saturdays during the year
The base annual salary for this position is competitive and falls within the range of $56,000.00 - $66,000.00. The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, and relevant experience in accordance with BC labour laws and company policies.
