- Review, analyze, and provide expert recommendations on telecommunications system and sub-system interface documentation, including radio, microwave, satellite, network, and other telecom technologies.
- Recommend system-level solutions to address discrepancies, deficiencies, and proposed changes involving network equipment, interfaces, and specifications.
- Liaise with teams and stakeholder technical groups to maintain system integrity, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Analyze, design, and integrate telecommunications network systems across multiple platforms and technologies.
- Prepare planning and procurement support materials, such as technical data specifications, drawings, plans, standards, and Statements of Work (SOWs) related to interface components and facility ancillary items.
- Review and assess telecommunications network components and related documentation, providing clear recommendations for improvements or corrective actions.
- Provide technical expertise during design, engineering, and management reviews to monitor progress, identify risks, and support decision-making.
- Conduct system integration testing, validation, and performance evaluations of telecommunications systems.
- Identify system deficiencies and develop cost-effective, technically sound solutions.
- Assess the suitability and compliance of industry telecommunications documentation for use within the organization.
- Conduct technical definition studies, feasibility assessments, and options analyses for telecommunications network systems.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience as a Telecommunication System Specialist.
- Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience performing each of the following tasks:
- Writing Project Technical Documentation (e.g. Statement of Work, Statement of Requirements, technical specifications) for IM/IT projects valued $5M or more.
- Designing, installing, and maintaining equipment for telecommunications systems.
- Implementing network infrastructure projects in areas such a - data center move/refresh, storage & database consolidation and information security projects.
- An Engineering or Science degree from a recognized Canadian University (if a non-Canadian degree it must be accredited by the World Education Services (WES), University of Toronto Comparative Education Services or CICIC) “OR”
- A Diploma or Certificate (minimum 2 years) from a recognized College in an Information Management or Information Technology (IM/IT) field. “OR”
- A Licensed Professional Engineer by any Professional Engineering self-regulatory bodies within the provinces of Canada.
- Able to obtain and maintain a Canadian Government Secret Clearance as well as Controlled Good clearance
- Able to go onsite 5 days a week in Ottawa
- Potential travel outside the NCR may be required
