- Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals.
- Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies
- Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization(s)
- Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will add to costs and may impact the short-term goals of the organization
- Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends
- Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
- Acts as advisor to subordinate(s) to meet schedules or resolve technical problems
- Develops and administers schedules, performance requirements; may have budget responsibilities
- Manages, perhaps through subordinate supervisors, the coordination of the activities of a section or department
- Responsibility for results, including costs, methods and staffing.
- In some instances, this manager may be responsible for a functional area and not have any subordinate employees
- Frequently interacts with subordinates, customers, and/or functional peer group managers
- Interactions normally involve matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers and the company.
- Must create a follow up and contingency plan for major events.
- Often must lead a cooperative effort among members of a project team.
- Deep technical understanding of manufacturing equipment, mechanical/electrical, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, and building systems in an industrial setting.
- Strong working knowledge of preventive/predictive maintenance, and reliability best practices.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing large, diverse maintenance and facilities teams.
- Familiarity with Canadian OHSA regulations, CEPA, ISO 14001, MOECP, and other applicable codes/standards.
- Skilled in budget development, cost control, vendor management, and capital project execution.
- Proficient in CMMS software, MS Office tools, and data analysis for performance tracking.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to influence across functions and levels.
- Always be available for emergency calls out of working hours.
- Post-secondary education in a technical field such as Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Technology (required).
- Certification or license in a skilled trade (e.g., millwright, electrician) or maintenance management (asset).
- 5+ years of progressive experience in maintenance/facilities roles in a manufacturing environment, preferably PCB/electronics or industrial manufacturing.
- 5+ years in a senior leadership role managing large teams (20+ employees) and multiple functions.
- Demonstrated success in driving equipment reliability and operational improvements at scale.
