
Director - Market, Counterparty Credit, Liquidity and Model Risk Policy

- Lead in the development (drafting and engagement of stakeholders to address policy issues), maintenance and management of market and counterparty credit risk, as well as other risk policy documents, ensure alignment with the RBC policy governance Target Operating Model (TOM), business strategies, and risk appetite. Present final draft policies to relevant senior management authorized authorities for approval and present to risk and business committees and forums final policy documents for information.
- Identify, interpret and lead policy development to mitigate risks for regulatory guidelines and business-driven initiatives.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders. Partner with key stakeholders, subject matter experts and other groups across RBC to develop effective, understandable and implementable policies.
- Provide senior level advice and support to managers and executives of Group Risk Management (GRM), other stakeholders and partners, the New Business Committee and other relevant committees.
- Maintain a high level of awareness of developments in the business, internal, market and regulatory environments, and incorporate changes into policies as appropriate. Review and interpret the guidance of the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions and other relevant regulatory bodies and advise on their impact to RBC.
- Assist with the publication of policies and other relevant documents onto the Policy & Procedure Library, and the administration and maintenance of the Market and Counterparty Credit Risk Policy web pages, Connect and Confluence.
- Communicate risk policies effectively and responsively. Develop and deliver formal and ad hoc training and guidance on policy requirements and governance in consultation with senior stakeholders.
- Perform policy monitoring, and checking for implementation effectiveness, as appropriate.
- Assist with the design and maintenance of an effective and efficient policy review and approval process, including submission standards, committee mandates (terms of references), approval management and the flow of policy papers through the New Business Committee and other relevant committees.
- Assist stakeholders in ensuring relevant authorities are delegated to the appropriate individuals in line with policy documents.
- 10+ years of experience in market risk and/or counterparty credit risk management.
- A strong knowledge of risk approval processes.
- A strong knowledge of financial product risks and/or risks in portfolios.
- Excellent influencing skills and ability to partner with the right people to achieve collective results.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral). Diplomatic and an effective consensus builder; advanced people management skills with ability to develop and maintain relationships across business platforms and control functions.
