- Perform design assignments, review and checking (up to 3rd level) for new and modified vital circuitry and application logic programs for centralized traffic control, interlockings and highway grade warning systems.
- Provide detailed cost estimates and project schedules for projects to minimize costs and disruptions to railway operations and resolve queries during construction.
- Provide engineering support to field staff during construction and/or maintenance.
- Verify and ensure compliance of work or actions prescribed in engineering drawings and specifications.
- Participate in construction safety audits as required.
- Ability to travel to various site locations in Canada is required (approx 25% of time in field)
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Valid Driverâs license.
- Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with a minimum of 5 yearsâ experience in railway signals design
- Professional Engineering License (PEng)
- 5+ yearsâ experience in software for crossing applications, CTC signals applications, AutoCAD and MicroStation design
- Understanding of CN (GIâs & SCPâs), CP (RPâs) and Metrolinx Signal Design manual, GIâs & SCPâs.
- In depth knowledge of applicable laws, standards and regulations pertaining to railroad and transit signal systems and highway-rail grade crossing warning systems
- Knowledge of AREMA C&S Recommended Practices, GCS, GCR, CROR, and industry standards
- Experience with hot box detectors and AEIs
- Experience testing/commissioning, construction, maintenance, and/or operations
- Rail signaling design, delivering projects for freight rail and experience with AREMA-based heavy-rail signal design
- Base salary ranging from $140,000 - $160,000. Candidates with greater experience and salary expectations may also be considered
