If you are willing to be part of a team that is dedicated to growth, high performance and a culture of safety and accountability, we would like to hear from you!PLANTS AREA MECHANICAL SUPERINTENDENT – Phase 3+ Expansion ProjectReporting to Island Gold’s Plants Area Project Manager, the Project Mechanical Superintendent will be involved with the procurement, construction and commissioning of all facilities associated with the Plants complex, which includes a brownfield mill expansion, as well as greenfield construction of a paste backfill plant and an effluent treatment plant.The Phase 3+ Expansion of Island Gold to a production rate of 2,400 tpd from the current rate of approximately 1,200 tpd will involve various infrastructure investments. These include the development of a shaft and related facilities, paste backfill plant, effluent treatment facilities, and an expansion of the process plant and tailings facility, and power supply upgrades. Following the completion of the shaft in 2025, the operation will transition from trucking to skipping ore and waste to surface through the new shaft infrastructure, driving production higher and unit costs significantly lower.The successful candidate will have broad experience in construction, procurement, and process plant commissioning. As an experienced mechanical construction professional, the Mechanical Superintendent will participate in procurement, construction, commissioning, operational readiness, and handover of all mechanical facilities.Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in and manage various aspects of the Phase 3+ Expansion Project including, but not limited to:

  • Operational and Maintenance Oversight of the following facilities:
  • Shaft
  • Hoists
  • Warehouse
  • Headframe
  • Collar House
  • Hoist House
  • Bin house
  • Loading Pocket
  • Shaft Water Handling Facility
  • Mill Expansion
  • Paste Backfill Plant
  • Haul Truck Maintenance Shop
  • Mine Site Administration Complex
  • Providing project leadership, safety leadership and facilitation of the site construction team.
  • Participation in the development of construction RFP packages and subsequent award decisions.
  • Tracking of all owner-supplied construction materials
  • Field coordination of various site contractors
  • Field inspection of construction progress and quality
  • Monitoring contractor’s daily labour, equipment, and material usage.
  • Reporting on Project Cost and Quality
  • Construction Quality,

  • Managing construction interfaces between multiple contractors
Experience : 0 years: 10 Years progressive experience in mechanical construction in the mining industry
0 years: Extensive experience in heavy industry construction and commissioning.
0 years: Experience in mine site operations, including underground mechanical systems is an asset, but not essential.
0 years: The individual should have demonstrated leadership ability, a high level of energy, self-motivation, and strong organizational skills.
0 years: Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
