Your Opportunity:The Rockyview General Hospital (RGH) is a metropolitan hospital with over 600 inpatient beds. It is also the main site for urology and ophthalmology specialties. RGH is located next to the scenic Glenmore Reservoir in Southwest Calgary. RGH Allied Health department works collaboratively with all clinical teams: Emergency, ICU/CCU, Medical/Surgical Units, Transition Units, Mental Health, Orthopaedics and the Acute Geriatric Units. This position may provide coverage to all service areas listed above. The Speech Pathologist role involves assessing, treating, and discharging patients. Job duties will be varied and will require a comprehensive range of Speech Pathology skills. You will have excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills and be able to work under minimal supervision. You will have a proven ability to work effectively within a patient-centered and interdisciplinary team environment. Your assessment and critical thinking skills will be necessary to guide your work. You must demonstrate an ability to provide clinical service within a continually changing health care environment. Your proven time management skills and demonstrated initiative will be an asset to this position. The caseload for all positions may be subject to change based on operational considerations. The successful incumbent will be expected to provide 2-3 weeks availability for initial orientation and subsequently be able to commit to a minimum of 1-2 weekday/daytime shifts of ongoing availability, as well as the availability to work over peak times such as summer vacation and other holiday periods. Please speak to your availability directly in your cover letter or resume.Description:As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will provide clinical professional practice both independently and as a part of a collaborative team, which may include external partners. You will be responsible for providing prevention, health promotion, identification, assessment, intervention, and case management. You will participate in the planning, coordination and delivery of rehabilitation services in collaboration with patients/clients, families, healthcare professionals and other partners. Your leadership and interpersonal skills will aid you in supervising students and providing clinical guidance to other staff as appropriate. You will use your clinical expertise to inform ongoing quality improvement, service integration, and program development.

Required Qualifications:Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA). Additional Required Qualifications:Ability to independently complete FEES and MBS assessments after completion of zone training pathway. Preferred Qualifications:Experience in Acute Care, preference given to adult acute care. Experience treating dysphasia and swallowing disorders in adults. Experience working with geriatric populations. Experience working in medical-surgical units. Experience working on transition and sub-acute units.
