- Performing hazard assessments for physical, biological and chemical stressors to ensure compliance with applicable procedures, programs, standards and regulatory requirements.
- Conducting IH (Industrial Hygiene) field sampling and monitoring for stressors such as asbestos, silica, lead, mercury, mould, noise, non-ionizing radiation and extreme temperature, ensuring accurate data collection and documentation.
- Maintaining, calibrating and operating occupational hygiene sampling and analytical equipment, ensuring proper function, service and repair.
- Providing the Certified Industrial Hygienist(CIH) with industrial Hygiene monitoring results, work plans and supporting documentation for interpretation, action and higher-level decision-making.
- Conducting research, literature reviews or technical evaluations as required to support the continuous improvement of IH practices.
- Preparing and delivering IH survey reports that include monitoring results, field observations and recommended control measures, including PPE and respiratory protection where applicable.
- Developing communication materials, technical guidance documents and training content to support the understanding of IH requirements and best practices.
- Participating in inspections, audits and program reviews to support compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Collaborating effectively with OSH(Occupational Health and Safety) Specialists, IH Technicians, CIH personnel and other stakeholders to ensure coordinated program delivery.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
- Education
- Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology OR equivalent formal education in a field relevant to the position (i.e., industrial hygiene, occupational health, environmental sciences, biology or chemistry) OR Secondary School Graduation diploma or equivalent and has more than 3 years pertinent experience or the equivalent in experience, additional education and/or training.
- Experience
- Preferably to have at least three years of work experience in the industrial hygiene field operations or a combination of experiences and IH-related training/education.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize work assignments.
- Demonstrated interpersonal, communication (active listening, oral expression/comprehension) and training/presentation skills.
- Familiarity with office procedures, methods, and equipment, including computers and applicable software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Ability to engage the audience through presentation skills.
- Intermediate skills and experience in writing technical and investigation reports.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
- This position is part of the USW 1568 union and is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in the USW 1658Collective Agreement. - Working schedule: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week.
