Risk Assessor – Environmental Consulting (Work from Home)We are seeking an experienced Risk Assessor with a strong background in environmental assessments to join our client’s national consulting team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in conducting, managing, and communicating scientifically robust risk assessments in support of contaminated site management and regulatory compliance. This position offers an opportunity to lead technically complex projects, mentor junior staff, and contribute to meaningful environmental outcomes, particularly in collaboration with Indigenous clients and communities.Key responsibilities include:
Conduct critical reviews and provide technical oversight of scientific literature, toxicological data, and sampling results (sediment, soil, biota, and groundwater).
Perform human health and ecological risk assessments (HH/Eco RA) in compliance with provincial and federal regulatory frameworks (e.g., BC CSR, Alberta Tier 1 & 2).
Serve as a subject matter expert in technical review processes, environmental assessment panels, and multi-stakeholder forums.
Design and implement risk-based management strategies including monitored natural attenuation, vapor intrusion mitigation, and long-term stewardship plans.
Guide the development of project scopes, regulatory engagement strategies, cost estimates, and technical proposals for risk assessment-focused projects.
Mentor and support the professional growth of junior scientists in risk assessment, toxicology, and environmental communication.
Lead or contribute to high-quality scientific and regulatory deliverables including peer-reviewed publications, technical reports, and community-facing materials.
Foster strong relationships with Indigenous clients, regulators, and other stakeholders through regular communication and transparent technical guidance.
Actively participate in business development through proposal writing, client presentations, and attendance at relevant industry events.
Contribute to internal improvements in technical protocols, QA/QC standards, and team capacity-building initiatives.
Support diverse environmental consulting projects based on expertise and interest.
What the successful candidate will bring:
Education: B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Toxicology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
Professional Designation: Eligible for or currently registered with a recognized professional body (e.g., R.P.Bio., P.Geo., P.Eng., P.Ag., CSAP, or QP RA).
Experience: 6+ years of experience in environmental consulting with a strong focus on risk assessment for contaminated sites, brownfields, and/or federal lands.
Deep knowledge of environmental regulatory frameworks in Canada, including risk-based remediation standards.
Proficient in exposure pathway modeling, toxicity evaluations, and risk quantification methods.
Experience engaging with Indigenous communities, regulatory agencies, and public stakeholders on complex environmental issues.
Familiarity with field investigation methods such as borehole drilling, monitoring well installation, and environmental sampling is an asset.
Proven experience in managing multi-disciplinary projects, technical teams, and budgets.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentation development.
Demonstrated ability to lead proposal development and contribute to strategic business planning.

Although this role will be based from home, at times, you will need to travel throughout Canada.
In return, you can expect:
Base salary - $85,000 - $120,000. Those will additional experience and salary expectations will also be considered
