We are currently searching for an Intermediate Geoexchange Engineer in our Vancouver office. Our Energy practice is growing, and we're looking for skilled and motivated mechanical design-focused individuals to join our team!Associated Engineering's Energy Practice is well known for its wide range of exciting renewable and low-carbon energy projects, including geoexchange / geothermal heat pump / ground source heating. We have been leaders in geoexchange in western Canada for the past 25 years. We are witnessing an upsurge in commercial-scale geoexchange projects across western Canada and the North, in every application from remote community buildings to urban district district energy systems. We serve a wide range of client sectors across Western Canada. Our projects have been some of the largest and most complex climate-change mitigation focused solutions around!Reporting to the Energy and Mechanical Group Manager, the successful candidate's duties will include participating in studies, investigation / site survey, design, construction, performance monitoring, re-commissioning, and forensic study.Job RequirementsWhat you will bring:
  • An undergraduate degree in mechanical or integrated engineering from an accredited post-secondary educational institution.
  • 4+ years experience in relevant mechanical engineering positions.
  • Registered or eligible for registration as P.Eng. with EGBC.
  • Completion of IGSHPA Certified Geoexchange Designer training or equivalent is an asset
  • Focus is on closed-loop vertical borehole GHX; experience with other types of GHX is an asset
  • Experience delivering studies, detailed designs, and construction for commercial-scale geoexchange systems.
  • Experience with specification writing and reviews.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit, hydraulic modelling tools, and strong knowledge of at least one leading geoexchange modelling tool (e.g. GLD, GLHPro, TRNSYS).
  • Experience with site assessment / site survey, detailed design of ground heat exchanger systems (GHX)
  • Experience with contract administration support, construction review / inspection, GHX and Heat Pump commissioning
  • Experience with instrumentation, control, and monitoring of geoexchange and heat pump systems is an asset.
  • Experience with other types of heat pump systems and associated HVAC design would be an asset.
  • Experience with drilling investigations is an asset
  • Experience with or integrating other technologies like heat recovery, wastewater heat recovery, solar, or district energy is an asset
  • Demonstrate strong ability to work independently and as part of or leading a team.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a complex environment, dealing with multiple projects and clients.
  • Possess strong communications skills (verbal and written) in a team environment.
  • Committed team player and self-motivated.
  • The capability and enthusiasm to bring in clients and projects.
