Summary of DutiesReporting to the Director of Integrated Surgical Program, the PCM position will be responsible for but not limited to provide leadership for the Operating Rooms. The PCM will provide a creative and innovative leadership style for the delivery of high-quality patient care within the OR. This includes leading the team towards a common vision, excellence in patient care, and the achievement of operational and patient focused care objectives.This role includes creating a supportive environment for our patients, staff and physicians, and facilitating inter-professional team development and respect. This position will concentrate on the; the management of staff, development of business goals including increased operational efficiencies and optimizing interdisciplinary team functioning.Leading quality and special projects within the OR, managing and analyzing budgets; controlling inventory levels, equipment/supply procurement: and planning material resources innovation. The PCM will have a personal drive and the need to achieve results by working to accomplish unit outcomes and setting goals and priorities that maximizes the use of resources and has the ability to inspire others to work toward a common goal by engaging and empowering staff.Qualifications/Skills
Master’s Degree (Nursing Health Sciences or Business) required
A College of Nurse’s Certificate of Competence required
Minimum five (5) years recent Surgical Suite experience required
Recent relevant managerial experience required
Working knowledge of O.R. booking systems Required and case costing Required
Commitment to patient-centred care
Proven knowledge of and ability to work with Collective Agreements and Labour Relations issues
Demonstrated success in establishing, leading and maintaining positive change and continuous quality improvement
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, set and accomplish goals and objectives in a complex, fast-paced environment
Demonstrated ability to lead a strong patient care team and facilitate a collaborative work environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrated composure under stressful conditions to meet competing deadlines
Proven leadership, coaching, team building, conflict resolution and decision–making skills
Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence and innovation
Ability to effectively collaborate with multi-professional care teams
Strong Human Resource Management skills, including knowledge of applicable legislation (i.e., Human Rights, Employment Standards, Occupational Health & Safety Act, etc.)
