- Ensure the health and safety of the brewing team is the top priority through shift change meetings to reinforce brewery policies through swift and concise action to deal with presented concerns.
- Help maintain our strong culture of health and safety through regular communication, training, enforcement, inspections, incident investigation, and improvement plans.
- Production planning
- Schedule daily brewing, cellar, and filter operations based on forecast
- Coordinate dry-hopping, tank transfers, and maintenance tasks within the brewing department
- Manage yeast handling, re-pitching, and internal lot tracking
- Inventory Management
- Monitor and maintain raw materials
- Maintain full traceability and accurate inventory
- Production Tracking
- Input and maintain production within our ERP system
- Maintain accurate BOMs in response to recipe updates or material changes
- Maintenance and Projects
- Participate in our preventative maintenance program
- Respond to emergent equipment related issues including aiding in repair and mitigating downstream effects
- Lead and participate in projects from small trials to integration of capital expenditure
- Product Quality
- Work with the quality department to ensure products meet specifications
- Investigate and troubleshoot quality related events and issues
- Track and report KPI's
- Formal brewing education or 5 years' experience in a fast paced, rotating shift, beer manufacturing environment, including at least 2 years at the supervisory level.
- Experience in production planning from material management to production scheduling according to the cadence of brewing operations is essential.
- Experience with automation in beverage manufacturing, with an understanding of ladder logic programming/PLCs is required.
- Experience managing people in the consumer-packaged goods industry is preferred.
- Experience with food safety standards in a manufacturing environment, or in a quality lab is an asset.
- Innovation experience in the beverage industry, including new product development and new process implementation is an asset.
- Experience solving common brewery mechanical problems with a hands-on approach is preferred.
- Proficiency in Word and Excel and familiarity with database applications necessary for maintenance of production schedules, reports, and analysis.
- Basic skills in a Windows operating environment and the ability to learn new software a necessity
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are required. Must be able to effectively communicate verbally with fellow employees and operators daily to give direction, provide leadership, and understand concerns, and must be able to write clearly and concisely to formulate and maintain standard operating procedures and reports.
- Developed ability to reason through problems to find the best possible solutions while taking all variables into account.
