Position: Urban Biological Services LabourerDivision: Community ServicesDepartment: ParksTerm: Multiple Seasonal Full Time positions available.Closing Date: 04/16/2026Labour Group: CUPE 59Posting: 4888Job SummaryUnder supervision of the Urban Biological Services Supervisor, this position assists with the monitoring and control of mosquitoes, small mammals, Dutch elm disease, other insects and diseases.Duties & Responsibilities

Controls and monitors the population of mosquitoes, Dutch elm disease, and other insects and plant diseases. May also be assigned duties related to hard-surface weed control, firewood collection, or ground squirrel management.
Ensures that all pesticide products are stored, handled and used according to the appropriate Federal and Provincial legislation.
Operates and performs minor repairs to a variety of equipment used in mosquito control and other pest management operations.
Supports and promotes a safe and positive workplace culture through a variety of initiatives and activities.
Supports and promotes the health and safety of employees in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations in addition to the City of Saskatoon's Administrative Occupational Health & Safety.
Policies and departmental procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

QualificationsEducation, Training and Experience Requirements

Grade 12 education.
Possession or the ability to obtain a valid Mosquito and Biting Fly, Structural or Landscape Class, Saskatchewan Pesticide Applicator Licence.
Three months' related horticultural/agricultural experience.
Possession of a valid Saskatchewan full Class 5 Driver's Licence is required, or at minimum, a Class 5 (Novice 2).
Current driver's abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

Physical ability to perform the assigned duties under a variety of weather conditions.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and civic employees.
Ability to work in a computerized/digital environment, including the use of Microsoft Outlook, SAP and mobile devices.
Knowledge and ability to use a variety of hand tools.
