
Assistant Educator - Full Time Supply

- Full-time Supply Position (25-40 hours/week): Candidates must be available to work a split-shift (morning and afternoon) in our Before & After School programs or a full day (8-hour shift) Monday-Friday to be considered.
- Applies current legislative expectations to support a program that is consistent with Ministry of Education requirements and in accordance with Upper Canada Child Care’s program statement.
- Participates in professional development opportunities, staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Engages with the children and provides a positive learning experience. Provides a range of care including assisting with meals/snacks, toileting, diapering, dressing, etc.
- Fosters the engagement of and ongoing communication with parents about the program and their children.
- Completes program charts, daily logs, reports, and other administration tasks as required.
- Uses Storypark for pedagogical documentation as a guide for program development.
- Effectively collaborates and communicates with other team members, school personnel, and outside agencies to help support the needs of all children.
- Provides guidance to students and volunteers as needed.
- Identifies children in need of additional support. Guides parents through the process of accessing resources. Helps design and implement individual support plans as required.
- A recent Vulnerable Sector Check
- Health assessment and record of immunization, as outlined by legislation.
- Up-to-date certification in CPR-C and Standard First Aid
- Basic knowledge of the developmental needs of children and demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge.
- Experience with inquiry/play based program design and implementation, and with the use of pedagogical documentation an asset.
- Uses initiative; applies sound reason in solving problems and resolves conflict in a calm, professional manner.
- Proven ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively and establish appropriate relationships with families, coworkers and other professionals.
- Have the physical and emotional stamina to effectively supervise children in a variety of settings including outdoor public spaces.
- Ability to use computer systems and programs; including Dayforce, and Storypark.
- Moderate level of physical effort is regularly required; including but not limited to kneeling, pushing, pulling, bending, and carrying.
