Income Tax Analyst

- Perform internal control responsibilities related to accounting for income taxes and compliance filings;
- Prepare and review quarterly estimated income tax calculations;
- Use critical thinking to investigate and anticipate possible tax and reporting requirements to maximize benefits across the company;
- Compile data and prepare computations related to the preparation of the Corporate Income Tax Return, including but not limited to, computing Book-to-Tax reconciliation;
- Participate in the month-end process by reconciling tax accounts and preparing monthly journal entries;
- Assist with government audits (if any) and prepare answers to government requests;
- Update the tax calendar for the department and ensure a regular follow-up on new filings;
- Prepare tax payment requests and initiate online filings;
- Work on special tax projects and other facets of tax as needs arise;
- Conduct research on tax laws, regulations, and rulings to ensure compliance;
- Analyze financial data to identify tax implications and opportunities for tax optimization;
- Assist in tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize tax benefits;
- Respond to tax notices and inquiries from tax authorities and assist with tax audits;
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Finance, Accounting, and Legal departments, to implement tax-efficient strategies;
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the organization;
- Maintain accurate tax records and documentation in compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements;
- Assist in the development and implementation of tax policies and procedures.
- Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or in a related field is required;
- 1 to 3 years experience in a similar tax role;
- CPA designation and/or retail experience are considered an asset;
- Strong accounting and tax research skills;
- Strong Excel-based skills and ERP system experience is a plus;
- Bilingual (French and English), written and spoken;
- Understanding of IFRS relating to tax is an asset;
- Must have a strong understanding of corporate finance concepts;
